One of our first nights there we went to the same train house we went to last year. Who knew one year ago that Jackson would be absolutely obsessed with trains a year later. He was in heaven and would not stop saying "choo choo" and "train!" for the hour we were there. He honestly did not enjoy stopping for pictures so these pictures where we don't just see the back of his head are rare.
My cousin got married that weekend too, so we were able to see all our extended family who we hadn't seen in a year. Of course I didn't take pictures I was too busy running around chasing Jackson I guess - he was having so much fun in the backyard that he actually played on the swingset and putting green during the whole ceremony but he was much quieter over there than he probably would have been in his seat.
There was lots of hanging out and Christmas festivities during the week before Christmas. Paige & Ben got there a few days later and there was lots of ROFLing, game playing, family parties, Santa meetings, movie watching, and good food.
He was obsessed with In'N'Out!
He wouldn't sit on Santa's lap, but he was intrigued by the book he gave him, thank goodness it had a train on the cover!
He played with my brother Michael's old Brio Thomas set for hours and hours and we are now in the market for our own set here!

We were also able spend time with Tyler's Grandma Carol. She drove over from San Diego to visit her brother's family in NW Phoenix for Christmas. But then she drove the extra hour out to Mesa and got a hotel for the night so she could spend the day with us. I love this picture and how excited she was to see Jackson.
Christmas Eve involved a little Tennis, Soccer, Hot Tubbing, Tia Rosas, Cookie Making, Game playing, Wee Sing watching, ham dinner eating and all around Christmas fun :-)
And then it came .. Christmas Morning! Jackson started the morning with my best Christmas present ever when he actually acknowledged me as "mommy" when we went to get him out of his crib. He has a vocabulary of dozens of words, yet still has problems saying mom and mommy. He says "daddy" repeatedly so it felt good to have him be excited to see me for a change.
I regret not taking more photos on Christmas morning, but I captured most of the activity on our video camera this year. But Jackson was so great on Christmas morning! He was in such a great mood and loved discovering all the fun things in his stocking. We learned he loves the chocolate "crunch bells" as he fumbled to open several of them bright and early. Turns out he's pretty good at opening the little candies!
Santa brought him some of his favorite things, so he was very excited about all his presents! He got the movie Cars 2, puzzles, train books, and a Cars 2 racetrack all of which he was very excited about. He didn't care too much about all the clothes we got him, but he loved the set of matchbox cars he got from Uncle Steven!
We were also able to talk to my brother, Michael, on his mission in New York! It was great to hear his voice and hear what he was up to. He had just been transferred to the mission office as one of the assistants to the president a few days prior, so he was in a whole new area for Christmas. After talking to him, Jackson taking a nap and us packing our suitcases, we headed to the airport for SLC and showed up at the Jennings house later that night.
